Summary:
In pediatric hospitals, antibiotics are frequently and often unnecessarily prescribed. Therefore, the aim of this project is to optimize the use of antibiotics in children treated in hospitals. Specialized pediatric infectiology centers will support pediatric hospitals in introducing Antibiotic Stewardship Programs. Telemedicine with a Web App will be the central element of the counselling service for the clinicians at the pediatric hospitals. Furthermore, the reference centers will support the establishment of guidelines for the therapy of infectious diseases. These guidelines will be available in the Web App. Additionally, clinicians will receive training regarding antibiotic therapy in children (primarily with podcasts and other internet-based platforms).
