Summary:
Since December 2018, the health insurance company AOK Bayern and the Hauner'sche Pediatric Hospital of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich carry out an outpatient Antibiotic Stewardship Program. Interventions to reduce antibiotic use are developed and implemented in the outpatient clinic of the Children's Hospital at the Hauner'sche Pediatric Hospital and in practices of pediatricians participating in the program in Munich. The aim of the program is to optimize antibiotic therapy in outpatient care. The aim of the evaluation is to investigate the effect of the Antibiotic Stewardship Program on antibiotic prescriptions. Additionally, we will analyze whether the use of a point of care test leads to a reduction in antibiotic use in this outpatient pediatric setting.
