University Medicine Halle (Saale)
Research, teaching and patient care are the three pillars of the University Medicine Halle (Saale). It unites the traditional Medical Faculty of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and the University Hospital Halle (Saale) as a maximum care provider in a special way:
Researchers, teachers and physicians work hand in hand. Scientists investigate diseases and their causes. They conduct research to find new cures and therapies. These findings are passed on to students in teaching. And the results from research can also be incorporated into patient care. In this way, treatments for our patients are at the cutting edge of science. On the other hand, special, unknown disease patterns offer new approaches for research and teaching - all under the umbrella of the University Medicine Halle (Saale).

Learn moreThe University Medicine Halle (Saale) has set itself two overarching research priorities. These are "Molecular Medicine of Signal Transduction" and "Epidemiology and Nursing Research". The fundamental goal of research at the Medical Faculty, which is also closely networked with the other faculties of Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg, is to gain new scientific knowledge, especially in the fields of cardiovascular medicine, oncology and geriatric medicine, which will also open up new fields of medical science, promote the health of the population and improve their health-related quality of life. Here, the embedding in the concept of "demography-oriented national medicine" is important.

We are also committed to the concept of interprofessional teaching and have been working to counter the shortage of general practitioners since 2011 with the "General Medicine Class" as an additional curriculum.
And it pays to study in Halle. The city has developed into a charming student city in recent years. Thanks to the "short distances", the good infrastructure with public transport and cycle paths, the many cultural and sporting activities and the numerous clubs, you quickly learn to love the city. Furthermore, affordable and centrally located housing is still available.
