Summary:
From June 2014 to May 2018, the Hauner'sche Pediatric Hospital of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich carried out an Antibiotic Stewardship Program in cooperation with the insurance company AOK Bayern. Interventions of the program included weekly visits of the general pediatric wards by the Antibiotic Stewardship Team, consultation service, restriction of some antibiotics, revision of the guidelines of the antibiotic therapy and a follow-up hotline for resident physicians. This project aims to evaluate the impact of the program, for example in terms of antibiotic use in the clinic, resistance statistics, re-hospitalization rates, and antibiotic use after discharge. We analyze claims data from the AOK Bayern and data from the clinic.
